“You are not here merely to make a living. You are here in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the errand.”

—  Woodrow Wilson

“This is my favorite quote and speaks directly to the ultimate goal, both on and off the court, of coaching.  In addition to striving to teach athletes to be healthy, strong, safe, skilled competitors, I feel very strongly about contributing to the growth and development as upstanding human beings.  All the intangibles that speak to one’s character (i.e. respect, discipline, dependability, trustworthiness, etc.) are so important.  My aim is to positively contribute to the whole athlete’s physical, mental, and emotional strength and his/her development into a strong, confident, upstanding human being overall.”
